Tapping

Are you struggling with weight management, yet despite all your positive lifestyle changes and will power, still have hideous cravings for certain fatty foods? Do you seem to always get injured or sick, just before an important sporting event? Does this frustrate and annoy you, because despite trying so hard, you seem to always be met with these same challenges, and then consider giving up?

Have you considered that there may be a quick way to get rid of these emotional blocks associated with these limiting behavioural patterns, without spending countless frustrating hours trying to grind through this, or in some type of long term therapy?

Earlier this year, I become a certified in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as ‘tapping,’ which is a form of energy psychology. EFT is a stress reduction technique, which uses specific acupuncture meridian points, but instead of using needles as in acupuncture, the individual taps these points with their finger.

EFT is based on the premise that, “the cause of all negative emotion is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” While traditional psychology looks at the cause of negative emotions as the memories or thoughts themselves, EFT retains the memory, while removing the emotional charge from the specific situation.

For example, as a child, you may have fond memories of family gatherings where there was always an abundance of sweets; therefore, as an adult, you may consume an excess of sweets (and may struggle with cravings and/or weight management), because at a subconscious level, you are reliving these fond family memories. EFT disassociates the emotional connection of sweet food to the fond family memories, so that you can retain those fond family memories without the behavioural need to consume sweet food.

I only came across EFT earlier this year and I am hooked! I knew I had to learn it immediately. As a health professional who does a lot of counselling and coaching in my work, I know that EFT has the potential to bring my work to a whole new level.

If you are struggling with things like weight management, cravings, procrastination, injuries, self-sabotage tendencies, or even more traumatic conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder or phobias, consider seeing an EFT practitioner.

There is plenty of information on EFT on the Internet and YouTube, however, I strongly recommend EFT Universe as a starting point.
